Status Report of the FAIR-Accelerator Complex

In 2005 major progress was achieved in further evaluation of the detailed ion-optical and technical design of the individual accelerator systems of the FAIR complex. The according descriptions were summarized within two versions of Technical reports (TR) [1]. In addition a cost book for the accelerator system was created, that describes the costs of the individual systems within a ‘buttom-up’ cost estimate. Numerous presentations and discussions of the technical and cost issues within international committees ('Technical Advisory Committee' (TAC), 'Cost Review Committee' (CORE-A), and various expert and ‘MINITAC’-meetings) took place. In November the actual TR and Costbook were conditionally accepted by these committees.
